I want to give a round of applause to Joan for her 1/2 marathon walk. I can ride into to sunset, but I can't walk to Batavia, probably 7 miles. It's great and thanks for sharing. Those are the kind of things that are of interest to me. I have riden rides for charity. My daughter in law, Chris, is walking the Avon walk this year. I think both the training and the event are character building. Congratulations, Joan!! And I do know the feeling of trying to back out of it. When I got to Lake Tahoe, I asked where the ride was going to take place. It was a century ride on the highways around Lake Tahoe, called America's Most Beautiful Bike RIde. I drove the ride and almost cried imagining that I would be doing this on a bike. I was terrified, and went back to tell my team in training leader that I couldn't possibly do it. Well, I did do it, white knuckles all the way. It a real accomplishment when we stretch ourselves. I wonder, as I write this, if anyone of us has gone to Haiti to help. I really wish I could. God Bless!
