Message: What a pleasure it was to stumble across the Ethelreda1959 website. I would have been a 1959 Ethel reda graduate if my parents had not moved our family to Homewood after my completion of 4th. grade in 1955.
Such fun to see the two class pictures (Sister Lea and Sister Malcolm) and find my little face. So long ago.
I actually remembered some of the names listed on the pictures.
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip through the website. It brought back pleasant memories of growing up in a more kind and gentle time.
Thanks so much.

Message: This is really an incredibly terrific website. It;s clear that a tremendous amount of work and care has gone into it.
As a boy I lived at 9111 S Paulina and attended 1st through 6th grade at St. E’s 1967-1973 (I would have been Class of 1975, but we moved to Tennessee). Although your class was out of grade school before I was even born, judging from the photos the school and neighborhood had changed little by the time I was there. The distance between 1959 and 1967 does not seem very great at all from the perspective of today.
Do you know of any class websites for St. E classes in the 1970s?
Best regards,
Bob Shaughnessy

Message: Nice web site, lot’s of memories even if I was a four years behind your class.
So many of the names are familiar because of the siblings that our classes shared. Also, we younger guys really looked up to you older guys. I can remember playing Run-Chief on the blacktop one winter. I was in 4th grade and was nailed by Don Cranley. It was like being hit by a train.
In any case, nice seeing all of you on the Internet. I wish my class would do something like this. Maybe we can get it going.

Message: I was browsing on the St. Ethelreda Alumni Page (I’m a 1995 Ethelreda alumnus), and thought I’d see what the class of ’59 was up to. My word, the RSMs would be proud of how organized you are. Way to go! It’s good to see that two great Rice men-Tom Billish and Dan Schramm- are still big Ethelreda boosters.

Message: Good afternooon. I was just looking at St. Ethelreada’s web page and came across your page. My son is a 2008 graduate from St. Ethelreda. It’s great to know that this class of 1959 still stays in touch. Creating this website was a great idea. I hope that the class of 2008 will follow in your footsteps. Things have certainly changed in 50 years. May God bless and keep you all.

I want to give a round of applause to Joan for her 1/2 marathon walk. I can ride into to sunset, but I can’t walk to Batavia, probably 7 miles. It’s great and thanks for sharing. Those are the kind of things that are of interest to me. I have riden rides for charity. My daughter in law, Chris, is walking the Avon walk this year. I think both the training and the event are character building. Congratulations, Joan!! And I do know the feeling of trying to back out of it. When I got to Lake Tahoe, I asked where the ride was going to take place. It was a century ride on the highways around Lake Tahoe, called America’s Most Beautiful Bike RIde. I drove the ride and almost cried imagining that I would be doing this on a bike. I was terrified, and went back to tell my team in training leader that I couldn’t possibly do it. Well, I did do it, white knuckles all the way. It a real accomplishment when we stretch ourselves. I wonder, as I write this, if anyone of us has gone to Haiti to help. I really wish I could. God Bless!

I love reading all the comments, especially from alumns from years after ours.
