1958 Marshfield Park Soccer Team

The group pictured was a soccer team formed at Marshfield Park to play in the first ever city-wide soccer competition. None of us had ever played soccer before – yet we won the tournament. As noted on the cover, we were one of 65 teams entered in the tournament. Following the win, the team was introduced at a National Indoor Soccer League game at the Chicago Avenue Armory. The team was featured on the cover of that day’s program.
