50 Year Reunion Questionnaire Response:

Hi y’all — guess I’ve been in the South too long. I’m so sorry to have to miss the big reunion. We’re heading to the Gulf for a couple of weeks with our son, daughter, their spouses and our six grandchildren. We do it annually as a reward to our children for not moving back in after college.

It’s been a great 50 years. My husband, John, retired in 1998 after 28 years in the FBI and we spend a lot of time enjoying his retirement both together and separately. He fishes in Canada several times a year and, for revenge, I go to New York for a week with three girlfriends. He also plays golf several times a week and I play bridge a lot. Together, we love to travel and are heading to Rome on Thanksgiving Day. Will cruise the Mediterranean and then cross “The Pond” to Fort Lauderdale. We will be married 43 years in August.

Our daughter, Wendy, just turned 40 and will be inducted into the Vanderbilt University Sports Hall of Fame in September. She was an All-America basketball player there and then played professionally in Japan. She’s already in the Tennessee and the Arkansas Sports Halls of Fame. She and her husband Paul are both attorneys and live near us in Little Rock. They have two daughters — Madeline Grace (8) and Anna Caroline (4).

Our son, Jay, 38, also played college basketball and is now an attorney in Jonesboro, AR, which is a little over two hours from here. He and his wife, Mary-Margaret, have four boys: Nathan, 12; William, 10; and Ben and John, 9.

I was a stay-at-home mom before the kids left. I played a lot of tennis, did volunteer work for the PTA, church and Junior League, plus spent a LOT of time on the road watching ball games during Wendy’s and Jay’s junior high, high school, and college years.
After we moved back to Little Rock, I worked as a financial assistant in our church for five years. My other “career” was 40 years ago when I worked in the editorial offices at the Chicago Sun-Times and later at the Aurora (IL) Beacon-News.

Our last connection to the Chicago area was John’s mom who is now 87 and lives near us in Little Rock. His brother moved to Jackson Hole and his other brother is in Atlanta. My brother is in the Denver area. Someday I hope to come back to Chicago and see all the marvelous changes that have taken place there. We rarely came back to visit and when we did we stayed in the south suburbs, never getting to The Loop.

Many thanks to the committee for all their hard work. Have a wonderful time … wish I were there!

25 Year Reunion Questionnaire Response:

Married to John … 2 children (Wendy and Jay 13). Living in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Attended Calumet High School and Northwestern University.
Enjoy tennis, bridge and volunteer work. For the past 25 years have been developing tastes for things I can’t afford and wondering
who would take the initiative to plan this reunion! Sound like fun – good luck!
